The Nutcracker

In December, the Kyiv Grand Ballet will present one of the world's most famous ballets: "The Nutcracker"!

The magical performance is often associated with Christmas and the winter holidays. It is not only a ballet, but also a Christmas adventure that many people hold dear.
The original fairy tale was written by the German author E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816. Almost 50 years later, the French writer Alexandre Dumas wrote a new version of Hoffman's adventure. Dumas's version was made into a ballet in 1892 with Peter Tchaikovsky's beautiful, catchy music and choreography by Marius Petipa.

Since then, "The Nutcracker" has become one of the world's most famous ballets. The fascinating adventure of little Clara, the evil Mouse King and the brave Nutcracker appeals to children and adults alike. The performance is performed annually on theater and opera stages all over the world.

Tour Kyiv Grand Ballet is presented by the non-profit organization Kultur for folket in order to support Ukrainian classical ballet art and Ukrainian artists who do not have the opportunity to perform in their homeland.
